On January 29th you will be mailed a 1098T form from USI, which can be used to calculate possible income tax credits. These forms will contain zero dollar amounts in all boxes. Federal regulations do not require that the University provide financial data on your 1098T form. We understand that to complete your tax return you will need financial data.

The IRS added a new reporting category for Reimbursements or Refunds. The rules for calculating this amount and its effects on the calculation for Qualified Tuition and Related Expenses were not practical to implement by our software vendor.

The IRS recommended that our software vendor show zeros on the form instead of trying to implement the new regulations. The IRS is reviewing the requirements for the amount calculations for the next tax year, and will likely propose some more changes.

First, you will need to login to myUSI (http://my.usi.edu) using your username and your myUSI Password . The myUSI password may be original password assigned by the Registrar’s Office unless you are a current student and have changed your password within the myUSI system.

After signing into myUSI,

  1. Click the Self Service icon.
  2. Cclick on the Student Services link
  3. From the Student Services main menu, look under the Student Records group heading to find the 1098 link
  4. Click on the link IRS Form 1098T Information
